Dan Cotter, a native of Northern Virginia, graduated from Boston College in
1981, and George Mason University School of Law in 1985.
A member of the Bars of Florida (since 2007), New York (since 2006),
Pennsylvania (since 2006), Georgia (since 2000), Maryland (since 1991),
the District of Columbia(since 1987), and Virginia (since 1985),
Dan is licensed to practice law in each of those jurisdictions.

Invited to author a portion of a Virginia Continuing Legal Education practice manual regarding medical malpractice actions, Dan has spoken at various continuing legal education functions in Virginia and Georgia. Dan has been involved in civil litigation for more than 20 years as a Trial Attorney in private practice (1985-1990) (2000-present), as a Trial / Managing Attorney (1990-1997), Regional Managing Attorney (1995-1996), and Regional Medical Claim Manager (1997-2000) with the St. Paul Companies.
Dan has represented clients in the areas of medical malpractice, wrongful death, serious personal injury, nursing home neglect and abuse, neglect and abuse of the developmentally disabled, premises liability, products liability, automobile negligence, dental malpractice, legal malpractice, other professional liability, insurance coverage, and other miscellaneous negligence based actions. He has tried jury and bench trials in various state and federal courts, and has handled appeals before various state and federal appellate courts.
A trained mediator and arbitrator, Dan has also served as a volunteer Neutral Case Evaluator for the Fairfax County (Virginia) Circuit Court. He is registered with the Georgia Office Of Dispute Resolution to handle general mediation, arbitration, and early neutral case evaluation.
Dan serves as "Of Counsel" to the firm of Maher, Guiley & Maher, P.A. with offices in Orlando, FL, Los Angeles, CA, Philadelphia, PA and Scottsdale, AZ. Dan has worked closely with many other firms around the country, including:
